Many people heal allergies on our protocol. That includes classic hay fever, food reactions, skin issues, autoimmune-type inflammation, and MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome).
Histamine reactions look like itching, rashes, runny nose, sneezing, and in worse cases a closing throat. People who live that way often become afraid of copper and of supplements in general. Every capsule feels like a possible attack.
That fear makes sense. It is also backwards.
We need copper to make the body’s own antihistamines. Store-bought H1 and H2 pills block histamine receptors. They do not rebuild the enzymes and minerals that clear histamine, calm mast cells, and stop the body from dumping histamine in the first place.
Why people are afraid to start copper
If you already react to vitamins, foods, smells, and leftover meals, copper looks like one more trigger. Some people do flare at the start: sneezing, itching, “allergic to everything” for a stretch.
That is not a reason to stay copper-deficient. It is a reason to start the way the protocol teaches: split doses, take copper with food, with zinc and vitamin C in the picture, and without abandoning the minerals the cleanup enzymes need.
Seven copper-related natural antihistamines
We have identified seven so far. Details are here:
Diamine oxidase (DAO)
The main gut enzyme that breaks down histamine from food before it floods the blood. DAO is a copper enzyme. Low copper means weak DAO. Weak DAO means leftovers, wine, fermented food, and “normal” meals start looking like allergies.
Histamine N-methyltransferase (HMT / HNMT)
The intracellular pathway that methylates and clears histamine inside tissues, including the nervous system. Copper status and the rest of the mineral pattern support the body’s ability to run histamine clearance, not just block receptors.
Adrenaline (epinephrine)
Copper is required for dopamine β-hydroxylase, the enzyme that makes norepinephrine, the precursor to adrenaline. Adrenaline is what an EpiPen is. It does not “eat” histamine the way DAO does. It reverses histamine’s emergency effects: opens airways, tightens vessels, restores blood pressure. A body that cannot make catecholamines well is a body that handles a histamine dump poorly.
Ceruloplasmin
The main copper-carrying enzyme in blood. It moves copper, handles iron, and is part of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory defense. When ceruloplasmin works, iron and copper are less likely to sit around making oxidative stress that keeps mast cells twitchy.
Catalase
Breaks hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Copper supports the iron-handling steps that help catalase become active. Toxins and oxidative stress trigger histamine release. Better peroxide control means less reason for that alarm.
Superoxide dismutase (SOD)
Cu/Zn-SOD is a master antioxidant. Copper and zinc sit in the enzyme. SOD lowers oxidative stress and is associated with less mast-cell histamine release.
Metallothioneins
A family of metal-binding proteins. They hold copper and zinc, help chelate mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, and other metals, and lower inflammatory tone. Fewer stored toxins means fewer “histamine because something toxic is in the tissue” reactions.
DAO is the direct histamine-eater. The others are the network: make the emergency hormone, carry copper, quench radicals, bind metals, and stop the body from treating every insult like an allergy.
Zinc’s half of the job
DAO needs copper to be a working copper enzyme. In practice we do not raise copper alone. Zinc is required to make and run several of the same natural antihistamines:
Zinc itself behaves like an antihistamine for many people (fast brake if copper ramping causes sneezing or a flare)
DAO function in a real body sits next to zinc status
Superoxide dismutase (Cu/Zn-SOD)
Metallothioneins
If you take a lot of copper and skip zinc, you can feel “stripped,” overstimulated, or suddenly allergic. That is why the protocol pairs them.

The rest of the protocol that calms histamine
Copper and zinc are not the whole stack. Other pieces help the body make antihistamines or stop the conditions that dump histamine:
Vitamin C — repeatedly used to lower histamine and support clearance.
Selenium — antioxidant partner; glutathione and thyroid enzymes that keep inflammation from running hot.
Magnesium — DAO activity drops hard in magnesium deficiency in animal work and returns when magnesium is restored. Magnesium also calms nerve and mast-cell excitability.
Boron — helps the body hold magnesium, which helps DAO.
B12 — listed among nutrients that support DAO activity.
MSM sulfur — used as a histamine inhibitor and to reduce the “receptivity” of allergy-prone tissues, especially nasal membranes.
Iodine — on the protocol for thyroid and tissue function. Contrast-dye reactions are a separate mess (often not “iodine allergy” in the simple sense). Do not confuse hospital dye with protocol iodine.
MSM Sulfur and Iodine are to be added last on our protocol, and are best added after most allergies are already under control. While they are powerful detoxers, they can stir up more toxins, and adjusting to taking them can cause old allergic reactions to flare up again, temporarily.
Potassium — allergies are often worse with dehydration. Histamine rises when you are dry. Potassium is the main mineral that holds water inside cells. Sodium in excess pulls the other way. Most people eat too much sodium and too little potassium. Cut back on sodium, raise potassium, drink water. That is antihistamine work by hydration, not by a receptor pill.
Antihistamine drugs do not build DAO, SOD, ceruloplasmin, or adrenaline. Long-term high-dose sedating antihistamines have their own costs. The protocol goal is that you need fewer of them because the bucket is no longer overflowing.
It can take a month to resolve and lessen allergies, and taking zinc and the other minerals help. Many people report massive relief after 2 months. Some take longer, as they move more slowly and cautiously adding minerals more slowly, and having more toxins to get out of the body.
How to say this in one paragraph
People heal allergies on the Copper Revolution because histamine is supposed to be cleared and mast cells are not supposed to fire all day. DAO, SOD, ceruloplasmin, metallothioneins, catalase support, and adrenaline production all lean on copper, zinc, and the rest of the mineral pattern. Vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, selenium, B12, boron, MSM, and iodine back that up. Antihistamine pills block the alarm. Minerals rebuild the fire department.
If you are afraid of copper because you react to everything, that reaction is often the deficiency talking. Start low-split, with food, with zinc and C, keep water and potassium high, go easy on sodium, and let the enzymes come back online.
Allergies are really the body’s reaction to toxins within the body. Toxins cause a histamine release. What happens after a bee sting or a mosquito bite is the swelling and itching. That’s the histamine trapping the toxin. Copper is also great topically for such bug bites. People on our protocol also react much less strongly to bug bites. Also, injuries also result in much less swelling.
